Pumpernickel Bread

Do not make loaves larger than recommended by manufacturer. Use the 1-pound recipe if your bread machine pan holds 10 cups or less of water.

1 pound loaf              Ingredients                  1 1/2 pound loaf
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
3/4 cup                   Water (warm)                 1 cup
1 tablespoon              Dark Molasses                2 tablespoons
1 tablespoon              Vegetable oil                1 tablespoon
1  tablespoon             White vinegar                4 teaspoons
4 teaspoons               Packed brown sugar           2 tablespoons
1 1/2 teaspoons           Unsweetened cocoa            2 1/4 teaspoons
1 1/2 teaspoons           Instant coffee               2 1/4 teaspoons
1 teaspoon                Minced onions                1 1/2 teaspoons
1 teaspoon                Whole carway seeds           1 1/2 teaspoons 
3/4 teaspoon              Salt                         1 teaspoon
1 1/2 cups                Bread flour                  2 cups
1 cup                     Medium rye flour             1 1/2 cups
1 1/2 teaspoons           bread machine yeast          2 teaspoons

Measure all ingredients into bread machine pan in the order suggested by manufacturer. Select dough/manual cycle. Remove bread from pan; cool on wire rack.
