Brown Sugar Bread

"This recipe dates from 1941 when world-war II was in full swing.

About 6 servings

      3/4  cup sugar
        2  Tbsp butter or butter substitute
        1  egg, well beaten
      3/4  cup milk
        2  cups flour
        2  tsp baking powder
      1/4  tsp salt
           Cinnamon
      1/2  cup brown sugar
Cream sugar and 1 tablespoon butter, add egg. Add milk and mix well. Add flour which has been sifted, measured, and sifted with baking powder and salt. Pour into well-oiled pan and sprinkle with brown sugar. Sprinkle with cinnamon and dot with butter.

Bake in a hot oven (435°F) for about 25 minutes.
