Grapenut Bread

"This 1941 recipe was provide by Mrs. George Hale, Geary, OK".

Makes 1 loaf

        1  cup Grapenuts
        2  cups milk
      1/2  cup sugar
        1  tsp salt
        1  egg, well beaten
        3  cups flour
        4  tsp baking powder                                         
Combine grapenuts, egg, and milk. Let stand 1/2 hour, add sugar. Sift flour, measure, and sift with baking powder and salt. Add to first mixture. Mix thoroughly. Pour into well-oiled loaf pan. Bake in moderate oven (400 F) about 1 hour. Makes 1 loaf.
