Rolled Oats Bread

"This is a recipe from The Household Searchlight - 1941"

1 loaf

    1 1/2  cups boiling water
        1  cup corn sirup
      1/2  tsp salt
        4  cups rolled oats
      1/2  cup lukewarm water
        1  Tbsp cooking oil
        1  cake compressed yeast
        2  cups flour
      1/2  cup sweetened condensed milk
Combine boiling water and sweetened condensed milk. Stir until blended. Pour over rolled oats. Allow to stand 1 hour. Add cooking oil, sirup, salt, flour, and yeast which has been softened in lukewarm water. Beat thoroughly. Allow to rise until double in bulk, then beat thoroughly. Pour into well-oiled pan. Cover and let rise until double in bulk.
Bake in moderate oven (375°F) about 45 minutes.
