Cabbage Soup


Ingredients:

1        large carrot
1/2 head cabbage, chopped
2 tsp    salt
1/8 tsp  coarsely ground pepper
4 tbsp   rice
1 lb     meaty soup bones or beef shanks
1        medium onion, chopped
1 tsp    garlic powder or 2 freshly choppen gloves
2 ribs   cellery, coarsely sliced
3 cups   beef broth
1 tsp    worcestershire sauce
2 cans   tomatoes, sliced (about 30 ounces total)
1        small bay leaf

Combine all ingredients in the crockpot.  Cover and cook for 9 to 12 
hours on low.  Remove the small-bay-leaf after 6 hours.  Taste before 
serving;  add salt and more pepper if necessary.  Serve with biscuits 
or crusty bread and real butter.  Serves 4.
